Kentucky-bred City of Troy made short work of his rivals in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, Oct. 14. The son of undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify won the race by an effortless 3 ½ lengths to remain undefeated. The win solidifies City of Troy as a leading contender for next year’s Two Thousand Guineas.

Ridden by Ryan Moore, City of Troy is trained by Aidan O’Brien.

“We’ve never had anything like him,” the trainer said following the impressive win. “I’ve never had a horse that never gets tired. I’ve never had a horse where we don’t know where the limit is. We usually push them to the limit, but we can never find his limit.”

Bred in Kentucky by Orpendale/Chelston/Wynatt and owned by Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith, City of Troy is undefeated in three lifetime stars. In addition to his facile score in the Dewhurst Stakes, the bay colt also captured the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in July after breaking his maiden at first asking at The Curragh.
