Kentucky-breds City of Troy and Opera Singer swept the Cartier Awards for 2-year-olds in Europe when they were named the top juveniles at the Cartier Racing Awards in London in November.

Both horses are trained by Aidan O’Brien and both are offspring of emerging sire and undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify. City of Troy was a brilliant winner of the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Oct. 14 and Opera Singer proved a runaway winner of the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp on Oct. 1.

Undefeated City of Troy races for Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith. He was bred in Kentucky by Orpendale/Chelston/Wynatt. In addition to his facile score in the Dewhust S., the bay colt also captured the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in July after breaking his maiden at first asking at The Curragh.

Opera Singer is owned by Tabor, Smith, Magnier, and Westerberg and was bred in Kentucky by Elvie Stockwell. Prior to the Prix Marcel Boussac, Opera Singer was an impressive winner of the Flame of Tara S. (G3) at The Curragh. All told, Opera Singer is a winner in three of five starts.
